UPM Raflatac

UPM Raflatac is the Label division of the Finnish company UPM and a world-leading supplier of self-adhesive materials for a wide variety of product and information labels. The company is also a global leader in the development and high-volume production of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and inlays for the high-frequency (HF) and ultrahighfrequency (UHF) ranges; products it markets under the brand name ‘Rafsec.’ UPM Raflatac employs around 2,700 people and recorded sales of approximately 1 billion euros in 2007. In addition to a global service network comprising twelve factories on five continents, it operates a broad network of distribution and slitting terminals, as well as sales offices worldwide.

Like all UPM Raflatac standard UHF tags and inlays, the Rafsec DogBone features a broadband RFID antenna that enables end users to reach and sustain consistently high levels of performance in all UHF regions. This represents a critical competitive and logistical advantage for any fast moving consumer goods company with manufacturing, distribution, and retail operations in different parts of the world. The same RFID tag can be used by the manufacturer, the logistics service provider, and the retailer to track and identify products accurately and cost-efficiently throughout the supply chain. Rafsec DogBone meets EPCglobal Gen. 2 standards and can boost the efficiency of supply chain management at both case and pallet level.

Rafsec Web is a UHF product especially designed for itemlevel tagging of apparel and footwear. Delivering steady performance and global functionality for major retailers, brand owners and logistics service providers worldwide, it is fast becoming the industry standard. It is fully interoperable with hardware and converting machinery, is orientation-insensitive and performs very well in near-field reading. Rafsec Web meets EPCglobal Gen. 2 standards and includes Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) functionality.
