Transparent merchandise, data and information flows
T-Systems always takes the latest developments in the IT and telecommunications technology into account. On this basis, the ICT service provider offers the most advanced solutions such as AutoID / Right Time Enterprise Services (RES). At the heart of this solution is a central data and information platform. By means of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and other data sources such as temperature and motion sensors as well as telematic systems it is possible to capture data on value processes and merchandise streams automatically and contactless, and transmit them to the AutoID / RES platform. To this effect, RFID transponders are affixed to pallets, boxes or individual products and connected with the article data. These data are then transmitted via the internet, private or public networks (LAN/WAN/W-LAN), mobile telephone systems (GSM/GPRS/UMTS) or future transmission technologies. This way, producers, suppliers and retailers always have all information available in the right quality, at the right time and at the right place. This allows seamless tracking of the supply chain, identifying errors early on, optimising processes, and reducing costs.
Flexible communication at the point of sale
Moreover, T-Systems also offers the solution In-Store Communications – the new form of communication at the point of sale (POS) with a flexible transmission of content and the offer of new services for own stores, outlets and shop-in-shop concepts. The innovative services for digital and multimedia customer address supplement the conventional communication media. Monitors at the POS allow for the presentation of daily updated advertisements, product information and special offers and also for employee training directly at the store. With Multi Service Spots it is possible to leverage new sales potential through enhanced customer service such as, for example, photo services, mobile phone services and product information. In addition, the customer call system can cut waiting times. With In-Store Communications, it is possible to increase the turnover of companies with a store network. Marketing activities can be flexibly designed and optimally coordinated. And the brand is strengthened.
Present projects of T-Systems in the framework of the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative
As a platinum partner of the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative, T-Systems actively participates in the optimisation of processes and the development of innovative concepts for tomorrow’s retail. In this process, T-Systems mainly contributes its technical and industry-specific know-how. Presently, the ICT service provider together with METRO GROUP is developing mobile solutions for the shopping of the future that will be deployed at the real,- Future Store in Tönisvorst. Over and above this, T-Systems installed an RFID incoming goods portal for supplier integration at the METRO GROUP RFID Innovation Center in Neuss – a module from the solution AutoID / RES. In this context, T-Systems also offers the opportunity for a simple access to the RFID technology with so-called starter kits.

AutoID / Right Time Enterprise Services (RES)
With AutoID / RES it is possible to capture and process data along the complete supply chains in value networks automatically and contactless by means of modern technologies such as RFID and other heterogeneous data sources (sensors, telematics or future, innovative transmission technologies). The data and information is provided to the partners involved in the value process in the required format, with the right quality, at the right time and in the right place. This way, full transparency of the supply chain within one’s company and beyond the company limits is ensured.
In addition to automatic data generation the AutoID / RES solution has many more benefits to offer. Standardized interfaces, for example, allow for a smooth integration of the AutoID / RES platform into existing CRM systems. The solution provides customized applications and in addition also offers transparent and flexible invoicing options. Planning and controlling as well as immediate action upon interruptions in the value process are thus enabled. This helps avoid supply bottlenecks, minimize stock shrinkage and incorrect deliveries, and optimize inventory planning.
In-Store Communications (IC)
In-Store Communications represents a new form of communication at the point of sale (POS) involving a daily updated presentation of advertisements and product information as well as new service offers for own stores, outlets and shop-in-shop concepts. This flexible and digital communication tool informs the consumers directly where they make their purchasing decisions – at the point of sale.
Integration of a customer call system helps reduce waiting times. Digital monitors in the store are not only used for advertising or infotainment but also for employee training at the store. And Multi Service Spots offer customer services such as photo or mobile phone services and also couponing and product information.
In addition, In-Store Communications acts as an efficient advertising platform with direct impact on the buying behaviour. Central text editing allows for high flexibility in marketing activities. Advertising messages can be changed by the push of a button. The IC elements can be easily integrated into an existing ICT infrastructure and connected to the merchandise management and checkout systems. Modern reading technologies – such as RFID or barcode, for example – generate a high dialogue capability and interaction. Additional revenue can be generated from the marketing of advertising space. With In-Store Communications from T-Systems companies can raise their sales and strengthen the profitability of their brand.
