Optimizing processes
SAP’s portfolio covers business applications for large and medium-sized corporations, as well as powerful standard solutions for small and medium- sized companies. SAP also offers over 25 industry-specific solution portfolios that support processes in trade, finance, high-tech, health services, and public administration. In order to help customers prepare for the challenges of the future, SAP has created the SAP NetWeaver technology platform and is developing it into a Business Process Platform. With SAP NetWeaver, companies can quickly transform strategies and ideas into innovative processes. Thus, together with clients, partners, and suppliers, companies can make their processes more efficient and more successful, internally as well as across national and organizational boundaries.
Making optimum use of RFID
Radio Frequency Identification is a key technology for SAP, and the company has been working on RFID software architecture development for several years. Together with the METRO GROUP and Intel, it founded the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative. This initiative gives the company the unique opportunity to test and demonstrate RFID technology. SAP supplies all RFID software components for the Future Store. These components link RFID reader devices to the corresponding business applications. The company also supplies RFID-based systems for tracking flows of goods, RFID-aided information systems, and the software for the employee portal. These make it possible to make retail processes more powerful and efficient, while improving the customer’s shopping experience at the same time.
SAP intends to continue supporting the initiative in the future. The company is convinced that RFID will make trade and logistics processes more economical, and that the technology will enable fundamental innovations in many areas.
