Checkpoint Systems, based in the US state of New Jersey, is the world’s leading producer and supplier of radio frequency (RF) tags. The company maintains a worldwide production, service and sales network and offers a comprehensive portfolio of products, solutions and services for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), merchandise identification, shrink management and sales promotion for retailing and the entire supply chain.

The METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative offers Checkpoint Systems an opportunity to work with other partners to increase the awareness of RFID technology beyond Germany’s borders and to address new target groups in the global marketplace. The company is continuously working to advance the technology’s benefits further. It tests products and solutions on an ongoing basis with the aim of developing them to market maturity.

At the real,- Future Store, for example, Checkpoint Systems is testing the world’s only dual-frequency antennas, which are able to simultaneously read and detect both RFID and RF security tags. Checkpoint Systems also provides RFID portals for incoming goods and for the passage between warehouse and sales floor. In this way, goods can be traced all the way along the supply chain and in the stores.

The new Evolve generation is Checkpoint Systems’ network-compatible, RF-based Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) system. RFID applications can be integrated easily in the system. Evolve products use Software-Defined Radio (SDR): this allows Evolve to work simultaneously with different EAS and RFID frequencies if necessary. A further advantage of SDR is that retailers can expand their software simply and cost-effectively. Checkpoint Systems is the first and only company in the world to offer such systems.
