alpha Tonträger

For more than 35 years, alpha Tonträger Vertriebs GmbH has been active as a full-service rack jobber and a wholesale system provider for the entertainment market. Based in Erding near Munich, the company handles audiovisual media and games sections in department stores, wholesale stores and supermarkets – from order picking to processing returns. In doing so, alpha takes advantage of benefits offered by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). With the help of the radio technology, shipments can be traced and individually identified at all times and matched to electronic delivery notes and invoices.

alpha’s objective is to improve inventory management and optimize the efficiency of supply chains. At the METRO GROUP Future Store in Rheinberg, alpha tagged CDs, DVDs, videos, CD-ROMs and console games with RFID transponders and registered them in a data processing system. This cooperation with initiative partners provided the company with valuable experience, especially in the area of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS). The know-how transfer will help alpha with the wide-scale implementation of RFID throughout its operations and in the long term further improve its service range.
