Innovation pilot Roger guides visitors through the Turkish real,- store
A robot on a foreign work placement? The employees in the Retail Innovation sector of MGI METRO GROUP Information Technology were fairly astonished when this enquiry landed on their table from Turkey. Mustafa Yurtoglu, boss of the real,- store in Istanbul, directed this matter straight to his colleagues in Germany. "And so it came to pass that we lent out our robot for a foreign work placement at the opening of a real,- store in Istanbul", states Silke Reichenbach, who looks after the innovation pilot at MGI .

Charming, smart and fully automatic: Innovation guides Ally and Roger have a few tricks up the sleeve of their circuit boards. No matter whether they are put to work in the sports department or at the master butcher, these talking robots are as familiar with the real,- Future Store as they are with their own charging station. Ally and Roger head around the store to explain new technologies and concepts to interested customers and they provide customers with all the information they desire. |
Roger was accompanied to the site by a member of the service staff from Metralabs, the company that manufactured the robot, and put it into service on location. Once 'he' arrived at the store, Roger went about his accustomed activity: he welcomed customers to the market launch and explained the services on offer there. "For this application, we have written our own application, and Roger learned to speak Turkish", explains Silke Reichenbach.
