Informationsforum RFID e.V.

Germany is one a world leader in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) research and in developing new applications. The government has recognized the potential for the business and scientific community in Germany and is promoting research in its "high-tech strategy". At the same time, RFID is the subject of hot public debate in Germany and throughout Europe. In addition to the benefits offered by the technology, the debate is also focusing on consumer protection and privacy.

Against this backdrop,  Informationsforum RFID was founded in 2005 with the mission of boosting public acceptance of the technology. The association is headquartered in Berlin and promotes open communications between policy makers, the business community and consumers. The members and sponsors of Informationsforum RFID include global players from the consumer goods, automotive, IT and service sectors as well as retailers, including METRO GROUP.
