Awarded: "Northerners" on the Lower Rhine - real,- wins sectoral contest "Best Fish Counter 2008"

 22 October 2008
Since 22 October 2008 it is clear that Germany’s best fish counter is not found on the coasts of Northern Germany but at the real,- hypermarket in Tönisvorst. This was the decision of the jury which awarded the sectoral prize "Fish Counter 2008" in a contest organized by the trade magazine Lebensmittel Praxis.
The team of the real,- fish market was one of three nominees in the category "large selling space stores" invited for the grand finale in the fishing port of Bremerhaven. The criteria merchandise presentation, creation of value added, assortment, special counter technology, sales promotion, quality standards and quality assurance, and marketing activities were rated.

Among other positive aspects, the winning fish counter in particular stood out against its competitors with an extraordinary counter presentation, assortment diversity and its Mediterranean design. In particular the Interactive Floor went down well with the customers of the real,- fish market in Tönisvorst - a shining blue projection with gold fish that reacts to movements. The shopping experience in the area in front of the fish counter is rounded off by the sound of waves that make the customers feel as if they were on the coast. But also the hard facts such as sales, profit or assortment size have tilted the scales in their favor making them the best in their sector.
When asked about the secret of their success, the employees named their enthusiasm for their profession. "We love our job", said one employee who was beaming with excitement after the award ceremony and, with a twinkle she referred to herself as a "real Northerner from the Lower Rhine". She and her colleagues give friendly and competent advice to their customers, most of whom know what exactly they are looking for. "But especially when you have a customer who is just beginning to cook, we will gladly assist him with advice about the preparation", said Magolei. Her colleague, Reinhard Sobert, added: "In the course of our professional career we have acquired a lot of expertise which we are glad to pass on to our customers every day so that they acquire a taste for our products". The colleagues on their team, Ingolf Müller and Peter Lamers, were equally delighted about their success.
This was the fifth year running that the sectoral contest for the fish counter of the year was organized by the trade magazine Lebensmittel Praxis in cooperation with the fish and seafood supplier "Deutsche See". Also this year, the prizes in the different categories were awarded in the sea port of Bremerhaven.
