RFID information and test platform

By establishing the RFID Innovation Center in 2004, METRO GROUP created an information and development platform which is unique in Europe. The METRO GROUP RFID Innovation Center in Neuss is a test and research lab for RFID technology. On 2,000 square meters companies, suppliers, IT partners and other interested parties can gain insights into the possible applications of the technology under real-life conditions and run tests. Cooperation partners present their latest technological innovations in the METRO GROUP RFID Innovation Center, such as applications for warehouse management or department stores. More than 40 exhibits highlight what tomorrow’s technology in logistics or purchasing could be like thanks to RFID. Exhibits can be grouped into five categories:

The involved companies from the IT, service provider and consumer goods sectors are working on improving the key technology. Since the end of 2005, the RFID Innovation Center has also been home to the European EPC Competence Center (EECC) .
