Welcome to the service desk
Customers can obtain information on Galeria Kaufhof's different product worlds at so-called service desks using a variety of information systems such as touch screens, card readers, scanners, loudspeakers, motion sensors and laser printers. At the “Information” service desk, customers can locate items in the store. At the "Payback" service desk, card holders can access their account balance and redeem bonus points. The "Gift" service desk offers a special service where couples who are planning their wedding can set up a virtual wedding list. Relatives and friends in different cities can choose their gifts on the screen. The system deletes the items that have already been purchased from the list to ensure it remains up to date. There is also a service desk for books, music and sports.
Simulation and advice
Galeria Kaufhof offers its sporty customers two additional innovations. There is the electronic golf simulator, which enables customers to move around the world’s most beautiful golf courses by projecting a fairway onto a big screen against which customers hit a real ball. The ball's trajectory is calculated and projected onto the screen. This is a good way of testing golf clothing and clubs under realistic conditions. The second innovation is for runners: The so-called MotionQube analyzes the position of the customer's feet and legs and suggests the perfect running shoe. The device also takes weight, age and suppleness into account.
