Fujitsu

Fujitsu is a leading provider of IT solutions for companies in the global market and is also the third largest IT provider in the world and the market leader in Japan. In the 2009 financial year (1.4.2009 – 31.3.2010), the Fujitsu group made a consolidated annual turnover of €50.3 billion. Its 172,000 employees help Fujitsu to provide support to customers in 145 countries, this includes almost half the Fortune Global 500 companies. 80 data centers in 16 countries guarantee a smooth delivery of the comprehensive service portfolio.

Everything from a single source – Fujitsu‘s Portfolio

  • Business Services To improve the company’s performance: Consultancy, planning and implementation of solutions that support and transform business processes.
  • Application Services To ensure an effective and efficient application portfolio: develop software solutions, integrate standard and individually developed applications, modernize outdated applications and implement new software solutions.
  • Dynamic Infrastructure Fujitsu’s Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio has created an optimally harmonized range of IT products, IT infrastructure solutions, Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Cloud-Services as well as Managed Infrastructure Services. The offers complement each other and allow customers to combine them in a flexible manner as required.

Managed Infrastructures permit customers to benefit from highly-standardized services, provided by experts.
Infrastructure as a Service does not require any investments and simultaneously offers greater flexibility.
Preconfigured Infrastructure Solutions reduce implementation risks on-site.
Standardized infrastructure products and services offer maximum independence.

Corporate social responsibility & responsibility for the environment

As one of the leading IT companies world-wide, Fujitsu takes its social and individual responsibility very seriously. Fujitsu‘s corporate policy to protect the environment and its behavior towards its suppliers and other business partners is defined in the "Fujitsu Way", which is binding for all corporate divisions.

At Fujitsu, “green” initiatives are reflected throughout all its processes. They range from the ecological product design to the environmentally-protective production processes as well as the environmentally compatible disposal of old devices. As a company, Fujitsu is striving for a "low-carbon society" with the aim of preventing 30 million annual tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. Such current examples are monitors, PCs and servers with zero watt operation during stand-by operation. Another far-reaching approach is the zero client which, thanks to the use of innovative virtualization technologies, reduces the need to use standard desktop components. By not using a hard disk, RAM, processor or disruptive fans, this concept saves more than 60% in energy compared to conventional desktops.

Comprehensive portfolio of solutions for the retail sector

One strategic business division at Fujitsu is Retail. The company offers technologies, solutions and services for the consumer market, department stores and specialist shops with the aim of increasing performance and transparency throughout the process chain. In the long-term, Fujitsu views RFID as a key technology for the hardware, solutions and services that use such technology.

Fujitsu integrates "Customer Experience Tools" (Instore and Multichannel), service-oriented IT infrastructure and applications for an optimized process chain into the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative. The products are developed right up to “ready for market” and then offered on a worldwide basis.

IT solutions and services for in-store and multi-channel systems

In order to increase the efficiency of business processes and improve the competitive position of commercial companies, Fujitsu offers comprehensive instruments for IT solutions in branches and other communication channels within the retail market. This includes self-service kiosks and personal payment systems, as well as Point of Sale (POS) software and hardware. Fujitsu has also developed the components GlobalSTORE PoS and StoreCENTER, via which branches can be controlled centrally and locally. Order planning, goods availability and cooperation with the suppliers and partners is also improved.

 Services throughout the delivery chain

Fujitsu‘s portfolio also includes an end-to-end-service platform, which permits a corporate view of the entire delivery chain of commercial, industrial and service provider companies in quasi-real time. This solution helps retailers and suppliers to exchange information securely and quickly throughout the chain – and to intercept on an alarm-controlled basis using the "management by exception" principle. Logistic procedures, advertizing campaigns and good procurement can thus be organized much more efficiently. The solution interacts on the one hand with the individual business processes and infrastructure services of the associated companies ("embrace – not replace") as well as with the global industry standards of the GS1 Germany.
