HOST 2007

METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative at the HOST 2007

 October 2007
The largest Italian trade fair for the hospitality sector will be held from October 19 – 23, 2007 in Milan. More than 1,800 international exhibitors will present trends, novelties and technologies that will shape the future of this sector on an exhibition space of over 110,000 sqm.
Metro Cash & Carry Italy will attend the HOST 2007 with a stand of over 20,000 square meters. In the so-called Metro-City, more than 160 partners from the consumer goods industry and customers of the wholesale store operator will demonstrate how they can contribute to hospitality. Over and above this, the METRO GROUP will also address other key issues in retailing. The METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative will equally participate with a trade fair stand. The Italian industry is particularly interested in the radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

 RFID put to practice

In addition to comprehensive information on the topic of RFID at the METRO GROUP and interesting exhibits relating to this technology, the visitor will also be informed about the current status of the RFID rollout in Germany. Together with the FSI partner Intermec, the Initiative will present a functioning RFID portal for incoming goods like those that are already widely used in Germany. The visitors will thus get a practical impression of the performance capability of by this technology – from potential applications in the future to today’s use in logistics.
