Due to increasingly complex market conditions; the retail sector needs to optimize processes, lower costs and establish ranges and services tailored to individual customers. Innovation and technological advancement are the prerequisites for achieving these aims – modern retailing companies have to implement promising ideas as quickly as possible and identify innovative technologies at an early stage. That is where the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative comes in. It is the aim of this cooperation of retailing companies, consumer goods manufacturers, IT specialists and service providers to push forward technological change in the retailing sector. Together, the initiative’s partners are setting new technical standards and developing concepts for use in the field for tomorrow’s retailing.
